Hello --
His ad was misleading and his correspondence after I discovered problem starting the machine was not truthful.
Item description included the following statements:
1
Operating System: Windows Vista Home Premium
Below that statement, Technical Specifications of the Lenovo ThhinkPad X60 said Operating system was Windows Vista
2
Bonus accessories include: Shoreline Laptop Case
Machine as received:
The operating system partially installed on the machine was Win XP Pro
Starting the machine resulted in the screen message "NTLDR is missing. Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart".
Rescue and Recovery CD (Jan 07) and Product Recovery CDs (Apr 07) were for Windows XP SP 2
The case was not included.
In correspondence he stated "...I sent the laptop off before OS restore everything was verified as working."
It could not have been in "working"/running condition, for the following reason:
the hard drive (Seagate ST 9160411AS) is a SATA drive and is not compatible with XP SP2.
I discovered this problem after unsuccessful installation from the Rescue and Recovery CD and then from the Product Recovery CDs, which required more than 4 hours of my time.
I have solved the problem and restored the laptop to working order.
His presentation and delivery of this item seems to be the result of a lot of cutting and pasting to prepare the ebay item description, and an erroneous/incomplete preparation of the machine for shipment.
The remedy I sought from the dealer :
Send me the Shoreline Laptop Case as soon as possible.
I hope this posting will help other potential buyers.
